ELKHART – Jean P. Waldref Kimes, 88, passed away the morning of Friday, April 13, 2018 at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart.

Jean was born in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur T. Wright, and Mable M. (Anderson) Wright.

Jean graduated from Elkhart High School in 1947.   She married Norval G. Waldref in November of 1947.  He passed away in September of 1997. In August of 1998, she married Robert L. Kimes Sr. He passed away in March of 2016.

Jean is survived by her four daughters -Jennifer L. (Gary) Beck, Amy (Jerry) Faux, Ann (Craig) Heitzman and Nancy J. (Todd) Kujawa, and a son - Thomas K.(Colleen) Waldref (of Tualatin, OR), a sister Gwen Gillett (of Fredrick, MD), six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.  Two sisters - Mildred Cook (of South Bend), and Cynthia Swaine (of Norfolk, VA), pre-deceased her.

After high school Jean worked at Miles Laboratories Inc. / Bayer Corp in Elkhart, IN. for forty years.  Since childhood she was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church.  She was a volunteer worker at Church Community Services for 20 years and enjoyed that very much.

Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be planned by the family at a later date.
