Obituary

Arvil "Jay" McQueary, 77, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 10, 2022.

Jay was born August 25, 1944 to the late, Willis and Ollie (Simpson) McQueary in Russell Springs, KY. He is married to Onie V. (Overton) McQueary. Jay is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonis, William, Leslie, Orvin, Lenville and Losier and sisters, May, Flora and Marybelle.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Onie McQueary of Elkhart; son Frankie (Kim) McQueary; daughter, Angie Ritchie (Rodney Stemm); sisters, Brenda, Raydean and Susie; stepchildren, Rex (Wilma) Ellsworth, Connie Martin and Donna (John) Troyer; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jay retired from Odessy as a truck driver. He also worked many years at Elcona Homes. He was a member of Elkhart Church of God for many years. Jay enjoyed fishing and boating in his spare time. Most of all, Jay loved visiting his family in Kentucky. He was a cheerful, fun-loving man and will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Service for Jay will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Rev. Bobby Bishop officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service on Monday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the funeral home.

Burial and graveside service will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
