ELKHART — Jaren "J" Anthony Minies, 18, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital following injuries sustained on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018.

He was born Dec. 1, 1999, in Elkhart, to April S. Canady and Dana L. Minies Sr., who both survive him.

Also surviving are brothers Isaiah Hill and Dana Minies Jr.; sisters Aubrey and Azhia Minies; grandparents Irnah Greenlee, Dorothy Hill, Brian Canady, Clarabell Irving and Lawrence (Sharon) Brooks; favorite cousin, Journei Barnett; and girlfriend Ashanti Byrd.

In accordance to the family's wishes, a private service will take place at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.

J enjoyed fashion, music and shoes, but he'll be best remembered for his ability to love, laugh and lighten up a room with his "million-dollar" smile.

He was a graduate of Tipton Street Academy and worked at Forge Industries.

He will be dearly missed by his family and close friends.
