ELKHART — Janis E. Carter, 58, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, in the emergency room at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 9, 1953, in Elkhart, to Robert L. and Joyce E. (Seashols) Kaiser. On Sept. 19, 1985, She married David A."Dave" Carter in Elkhart.
In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include a daughter, Kari (Matt) Hazelbaker of Goshen; two sisters, Kathy (Pete) Herman of Granger and Julie (Mark) Jones of Rochester; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Jellison and Madeline Hazelbaker, both of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Janis was employed with the Dicor Corporation as a purchasing agent for 26 years. She loved to make crafts and jewelry and collect lighthouses. She was an avid boater on Lake Michigan and, most of all, loved spending time with her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor David Garty of Living Stones Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or the Center for Hospice Care. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
