ELKHART — Janet S. Roberts, 71, of Elkhart, passed away in her home with her family by her side at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, following an extended illness.
She was born in Elkhart on June 5, 1943, to the late Edward and Virginia (Freshour) Brown. She married Billy D. Roberts on Aug. 9, 1963, in Elkhart. He survives her at home.
Also surviving are her daughters Kimberly Wanzell of Lafayette and Lisa Roberts and Carolyn (Richard) Mason of Elkhart; son W. Scott (Terrie Osborne) Roberts of Elkhart; sister Pat Sharp of Elkhart; brother Donald (Dee) Brown of Bristol; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A sister, Shirley Dorrier; a nephew, Cpl. Aaron Seal, USMC; and an infant grandson preceded her in death.
A celebration of Janet's life will take place at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart on Tuesday, Feb. 17, with visitation beginning an hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Pastor Kenneth Lacesield of the Word of Life Fellowship will officiate.
Janet worked for many years in the Michiana area as a production worker in the RV industry. She enjoyed reading, camping, and spending time with her family and her little pal Mason the dachshund.
