OSCEOLA — Janet M. Pontius, 77, of Osceola, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at 1:15 p.m. at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Osceola to the late Fred and Lola Grant.
She later married Donald E. Pontius Jr. on Aug. 25, 1958, in Osceola. He passed away in 2008.
Surviving are her son, B. Scott (Pamela) Pontius, and her grandchildren, Sara and Kevin Pontius, all of Mishawaka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; and a son, Grant E. Pontius.
Visitation for Janet will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Daniel Repp of St. John's Episcopal Church of Elkhart will officiate. Burial will take place in Osceola Cemetery.
Janet worked in various administrative positions throughout the Elkhart area through her lifetime. She was a 1954 graduate of Jimtown High School and enjoyed reading, researching her family's genealogy and hosting family reunions.
