Janet M. "Meemah" Mixon, 52, of Osceola, was found passed away at 12:07 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in her home following an extended illness.
Janet was born in St. Louis, on Dec. 1, 1962, to the late Robert and Laura (Taylor) Mixon.
Surviving are her children, Laura, Crystal and Jonathan (Alexandra Higgins) Mixon and Robert (Shulonda Patrick) Jordan; grandchildren Javier, Jonathan Jr. and Kavion; brother Bryan (Kathy) Mixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, including aunties Georgia Abernathy and Elvie Taylor.
No immediate services have been scheduled. Cremation will take place under the care of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart. A memorial will take place at a later date.
Janet spent most of her life doing what she loved, which was cooking. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family and friends: the bigger the gathering, the better.
She was a member of Pilgrim Rest MB Church of Elkhart. She will be best remembered for her quick sense of humor and her angelic singing voice.
Memorial donations may be given to the family in care of her daughter, Laura Mixon.
