ELKHART — Jane L. Jernstrom, 82, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Woodland, after a 2 1/2 year battle with Alzheimer's.  A South Bend native, Jane was born on December 9, 1934 to the late William Clifford and Mabel (Johnson) Williams. She married Thomas J. Jernstrom on May 16, 1954 in South Bend. Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Tom Jernstrom of Elkhart; daughter Pam (Larry) Holcomb of Osceola; 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren and a daughter-in law Brenda Jernstrom of Elkhart. Jane was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Jernstrom; sisters Helen Nurenberg, Alice Mae Lambert and brother Henry Roland Williams. Jane was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 1952 graduate of Riley High School. Jane enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking and going to church. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, celebration of life service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Pastor Craig Duke of the Osceola United Methodist Church will officiate. Per Jane's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jane may be donated to AseraCare Hospice or United Cancer Services of Elkhart Co.
