Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Jamie L. Meyer

May 29, 1981 – October 29, 2026

Jamie L. Meyer, 45, was born on May 29, 1981, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He passed away on October 29, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him beyond measure and a lifetime of memories that will forever be held close to their hearts.

Jamie was a man with a heart of gold, a protective spirit, a stubborn streak, an outgoing personality, and a sense of humor that could bring laughter into a room. He had a way of making himself known, and his presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

Throughout his life, Jamie dedicated himself to a lifelong career in security, a profession that reflected his natural instinct to protect others. Being a protector was more than a career to him; it was part of who he was. He cared deeply about the people he loved and carried that protective spirit into every part of his life.

Above all else, Jamie’s greatest love was his family. His wife, Natasha, was the center of his world, and the love they shared was something deeply special. He cherished the simple moments most—cuddling with his wife, spending quiet time together, laughing, and simply being by her side. To Jamie, those moments were what life was all about. His love was constant, devoted, and meant to last beyond a lifetime. He never wanted his family to question how much they meant to him. He made a point of telling them he loved them, reminding them often of the place they held in his heart. To his beloved wife, those words were especially meaningful:

“I love you always, forever, into eternity.”

Those words will forever be a part of their love story—a promise of a love that cannot be measured by time and a bond that will remain in Natasha’s heart for the rest of her life.

Jamie was a proud and loving father, grandfather, uncle, and husband. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Natasha Riggs- Meyer; his son, Zechariah “Zak” Meyer; step children Kyleigh, Karleigh, Kaiden, and Kylen Bartell, his three adopted daughters Jordan (Jamel), Makayla (Jason), and Autumn Meyer.

His legacy also lives on through his nine cherished grandchildren: Jonah, Jamel, Josiah, Jeramiah, Jayden, Greyson, Myles, Aspen, and Reyleign. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Mary, and his three nephews, Bentley, Brayden, and Bryson.

Each of them held a special place in Jamie’s heart, and each carries a piece of his legacy forward. The love he gave, the memories he created, and the lessons he shared will continue to live on through the generations of family he leaves behind.

When Jamie wasn’t spending time with his family, he enjoyed the things that brought him happiness. He loved playing video games, watching action movies, and sharing his passion for martial arts. He also had a special love for Thor. Whether he was enjoying his favorite entertainment or simply relaxing at home with the people he loved, Jamie found joy in the moments that made life meaningful.

Jamie was also a member of Middlebury Community Church of the Nazarene, where he deeply admired his pastor, Gary Sheets, and treasured his heartfelt sermons. His connection to the church and the messages he heard there were meaningful parts of his life.

Jamie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lela Lewis; his father, Elmer Lewis; and his cherished twin brother, Jeremy Merchant.

Though their time together on this earth has ended, the bonds of family and love remain eternal. There is comfort in imagining Jamie reunited with his mother, father, and twin brother, especially Jeremy, with whom he shared the unique and irreplaceable bond of being twins.

Though Jamie’s time here was far too short, the impact of his life cannot be measured in years alone. He will be remembered for his loving heart, his humor, his stubborn determination, his protective nature, and the unwavering love he gave his family.

His absence leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him. There will be moments when his laughter is missed, when his familiar presence is longed for, and when his family wishes for just one more hug, one more cuddle, one more conversation, or one more opportunity to hear him say, “I love you.”

But the love Jamie gave does not end with his passing. It lives on in every memory, every story shared, every laugh that reminds his family of him, and every heart he touched along the way.

To his beloved wife, he will always be the man she loved, the one whose arms felt like home, and the one whose promise of forever will remain etched into her heart.

To his children and grandchildren, he will always be a father and grandfather whose love helped shape their lives.

And to everyone who knew him, Jamie will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, protected fiercely, and left a lasting mark on the people fortunate enough to call him family.

Jamie, you were loved beyond words, you will be missed beyond measure, and you will never be forgotten.

Always, forever, into eternity.
