Obituary
He was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Elkhart, to Clifford and Mary (Nagy) Whitman.
He is survived by a sister, Sheila (Rob) Hackney of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bill Sullivan officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Mr. Whitmer was co-owner of C & J Furnace Co. in Elkhart from 1961 to 1986. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1959. He also worked at ADEC for 10 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
