ELKHART -- James A. White, 68, of Elkhart, passed away at his residence Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
He was born April 24, 1943, in Winchester, to Leon W. and Dorothy J. (Gable) White. On July 15, 1985, he married Mary E. (Keck) White in Portland, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Renee' White of Las Vegas, Nev., and Christi White; two sons, Michael White of Ohio and Mike White of Terre Haute; two brothers, Don (Joanne) White of South Carolina and Gene (Bessie) White of New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James was a U.S. Army veteran and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was employed with the Union City Body Company for several years. James enjoyed spending time building wooden projects, singing in bands, playing bass guitar and the keyboard.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, May, 16, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
Graveside military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Post 308, Color Guard and the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Detail.
