ELKHART — James R. Watson, 71, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital at 7:34 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.
He was born in Wheeling, W.Va., on Jan. 2, 1944, to the late Willard and Ethel (McKhan) Watson.
On March 10, 1990, he married Tammy S. Tinder in Elkhart. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his children, Linda (James) Singleton, Jammie (Willie) Padilla, James Watson and William (Briana) Watson; grandchildren Ryan Huffman, Joshua Bole, Rachel (Shawn) Singleton and Hayden Watson; four great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Patsy) Watson; and sister Margaret Hatcher.
Jim was preceded in death by four siblings.
Jim's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart beginning with a visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, followed by a funeral there at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 6. Pastor Ron Bell of Grace Bible Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
Jim worked in the local RV industry nearly all of his life, retiring from El Paco Paints of Elkhart. He was a member of Osceola American Legion 308. He will be best remembered for his trademark Stetson hat.
Memorial donations may be given to Grace Bible Church.
