James "Jim" W. McCreary, 75, of Elkhart, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 8:00 am.

He was born April 18,1944 in Manchester, KY to the late Lawrence and Annie (Hampton) McCreary. Jim married the love of his life, Betty Jean (Payne) McCreary on Memorial Day, May 25, 1963.

He is preceded in death by sister, Kathy and brother, Vernon.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Betty; sons, Jamie (Tracie) McCreary of Cassopolis, MI and James Lawrence McCreary of Elkhart, IN; grandsons, Jason Lee and Austin James McCreary; brothers and sisters, Denver (Patricia), Daniel (Christine), Charles (Donna), Denny (Faye), Leroy (Debbie), Robert (Joyce) and Carolyn (Randall) and many nieces and nephews.

Jim retired as a machinist at Jessen Manufacturing and I.P.C. in Elkhart. He was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1992. Jim was an avid deer hunter. He loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle and travelled frequently with his wife. Most of all, Jim was a loving husband and father and he will be greatly missed.

A private visitation for Jim will be held at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN. Burial will follow at Olive West Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards the family, Food Bank of Northern Indiana or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
