GOSHEN -- James W. "Jim" Stine, 60, of Goshen, died at 5 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 14, 2010) in Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1949, in North Manchester to William B. "Wilbur" and Opal J. (Williams) Stine. On June 16, 1990, he married Nancy Markley in Elkhart.
She survives along with two brothers, Larry (Sally) Stine of Poway, Calif., and Marvin (Carol) Stine of North Manchester.
Mr. Stine graduated from Manchester High School in 1948 and from Indiana University Purdue University in 1972. For the past several years he had been working at Koons & Phillips Accounting, Elkhart, where he worked until his death. He and his wife co-owned Instagreen, a lawn installation business, until 2007. He also had worked as a controller for the Riegsecker Co., Shipshewana, a bank officer at First National Bank, Goshen, and as a vice president of finance at NBD Bank, Elkhart.
He loved following financial reports, woodworking, repairing automobiles, spending time with his dogs, taking his speedboat on the lower St. Joseph River and the time he built a race car with his brother.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at a later date. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, assisted with arrangements.
