ELKHART —  James Stewart "Jim" Simmons, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at 10:50 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital after a battle with lung cancer.

He was born April 26, 1939, in Virginia.

He married Christine Ann Orell on Nov. 3, 2003.  She passed away Oct. 19, 2014.

Jim is survived by friends Dave Raeder and Steve (Sandy) Wagner. Steve served his country in the U.S Marine Corps, from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962.

Jim formerly worked security for Per Mar at the mall and at various recreational vehicle manufacturing companies.

Cremation was chosen and burial will be in a National Cemetery.

Billings Funeral Home assisted with the care and cremation for Jim.
