James R. "Jim" Selner, 84, of Union, MI passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Elkhart, IN on May 12, 1938, to the late Earle and Gladys (Killinger) Selner.

Jim is survived by his children, Tim Selner, Doug (Stephanie) Selner, and Deb Selner; stepchildren, Denny Ball and Teresa (Greg) Byrkett; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 21 years, Janice J. Selner; granddaughter, Erika Beachy; brothers, Gordy and Rich Watkins; and sister, Jerri Vickers.

In accordance with Jim's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A private family graveside service will be held.

Jim was a loving family man and great father who loved his family immensely. He never met a stranger and was kind to everyone, creating many friends during his lifetime. Jim could fix just about anything and was always spending time in his tool shed working on a project.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite football teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears, along with his favorite college basketball team, Indiana Hoosiers. Jim also enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren at all of their school sporting events whenever he had a chance to watch them. When he was younger, he loved going for Sunday morning drives after church in the Station wagon with his kids, taking in the view of the countryside. Something that he would later do with his wife, Janice, where they would look for beautiful deer along the way. Jim will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
