ELKHART — James F. "Cheese" Peoples, 77, of Elkhart, passed away in his home at 2:06 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, following an illness.
He was born in Magnolia, Ark., on June 15, 1937, to the late Albert and Verdie (Snell) Peoples.
He married Ella Mae Thomas on May 12, 1984, in Elkhart. She passed away in 2013.
Cheese is survived by his children, Ella, James (Annette), Terry and Walter (Angie) Peoples; and siblings McIlwraith "Mike" (Veronica), Henry and LeOtis Peoples, all of Elkhart, Asa Peoples, Mae Moore, Cora Peoples and Helen Hardin, all of Blytheville, Ark., and Loretta Davis of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
In accordance with the family's wishes, no service has been scheduled. Cremation is to take place. A memorial celebration will be later in the year.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is handling arrangements.
Cheese worked as a molder for several area businesses. He was a well-liked individual who was loving, outgoing and enjoyed spending time with his friends.
