He was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Dowagiac, to James Marion and Mary Irene (Meyers) Mendenhall. He married Margarett E. Clawson on Nov. 8, 1975, in Niles.

She survives along with two sons, James W. Mendenhall of Toledo, Ohio, and Jeff L. (Davina) Mendenhall of Williamsburg, Va.; and a sister, Major Marilyn (Major Robert) Aldridge of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Friends may call one hour prior to Saturday's 11 a.m. celebration of life service at the Adamsville Road Church of God, 51287 C.R. 7, Elkhart. Pastor Robert Meckley will officiate. A private family burial has taken place in Adamsville Cemetery.

Mr. Mendenhall started and owned ExperTech Inc. in Elkhart from 1986 until 2004, when his health forced him into an early retirement. He had worked at General Micro Computer from 1984 to 1988, at Competitive Software from 1978 to 1995 and for 18 years in quality control at Excel Corp.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served on the U.S.S. North Hampton, with six years of active duty. He was a member of Adamsville Road Church of Good, enjoyed computers and metalworking and liked to take things apart and put them back together. He was proud of his sons and will be missed by his golden retriever, Teddy.
