He was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Steger, Ill., to Frederick G. and Mabel (Lake) Kufeldt. On Oct. 1, 1950, in Bristol, he married Iona V. Beck at Bristol United Methodist Church.
She survives, along with two daughters, Yvonne (Lynn A.) Smeltzer of Nappanee and Euda (Jim) Rader of Elkhart; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald E. (Ruth) Kufeldt of Constantine, Mich.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Sigsbee and Lois Boyer.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral service at Bristol United Methodist Church, 201 S. Division St., Bristol. The Rev. Herb Minnich will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol.
Mr. Kufeldt worked for 30 years with Excel Corp. as an inspector. He also worked part time at the Bristol Lumber Yard as a saw operator and in the shipping department for nearly 20 years. He formerly worked as a boilermaker's helper on the New York Central Railroad.
Mr. Kufeldt was a 70-year member of Bristol United Methodist Church, joining in April 1936. He enjoyed woodworking and built his house by himself. He also liked bird watching and was known to have a sweet tooth.
