ELKHART -- James R. "Jim" Janey, 69, of Elkhart, died at 6 a.m. Monday (Nov. 3, 2008) in his home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Nitro, W.Va., to Ernest and Margaret Faye (Kinder) Janey. On Feb. 18, 1961, he married Shirley A. Current in Elkhart.

She survives along with three daughters, Linda (Gary) Ellsworth of Knoxville, Texas, Lora (Ralf) Schaper of Rockville and Shayla Watson-Janey, at home; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Williams of Elkhart; and one sister-in-law, Jean Williams of Louisville, Ky.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Desmond and Cecil Williams.

Mr. Janey worked as an electrician in the mobile home industry for many years and enjoyed camping with his family.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to Friday's 11 a.m. funeral service, all at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Joe Lake of Life Tabernacle Church, Elkhart, will officiate. A graveside service and burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
