ELKHART — James R. Hostetter, 72, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Bloomington, to Merrell and Nellie G. (Koontz) Hostetter.
On Aug. 26, 1961, he married Mary Ann (Hawkins) Hostetter in Bloomington.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, other survivors include three daughters, Katrina (Hugh) Parker, Tami (Dewayne) Coleman and Jamie (Dwayne) Parker, all of Elkhart; son James M. "Scotty" (Lori) Hostetter of Elkhart; sister Phyllis Helms of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Mary Wilson and Evelyn Eastham.
James was employed as a foreman at AACOA for several years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Elkhart Church of God.
James often enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing video games and watching IU basketball.
The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Randy Shinolt will officiate. Interment will follow in Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg, Mich.
