ELKHART – James C. "Hippy" Gipson, 56, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Elkhart Center for Hospice.

He was born November 25, 1956 in Elkhart, IN, to William C. Gipson and Glenda Fay (Futrell) Bryant.

Hippy, as he was known by most, loved to travel. He traveled all over the country sometimes even on foot. He walked to Washington State after Mt. St. Helens blew in 1980 to see how the landscape had been changed. He also followed the Grateful Dead on tour several times.

He is survived by his father and mother; brothers, Mark Gipson and Kevin (Jessie) Gipson; step-mother, Bonnie (Davis) Gipson; numerous step-siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

As per his wishes, no services will be held.
