James “Jim” Leroy Gross, 92, of Bristol, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026 at his home.

Jim was born on March 29, 1934 in Scott, IN to the late John Henry Gross and Zelma (Leeth) Gross. Jim married the love of his life, Rosalie M. (McHale) Gross in September of 1961. She passed away on July 18, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Dale Gross, Chuck Gross, Bob Gross, and Phyllis Gross and sister-in-law, Estelle Bowlby.

Jim is survived by his children, James W. Gross (Pam Mulford), Joseph (Barbara Moore) Gross and Jennifer L. Gross (Karl Shoufler); grandchildren, Jeanette (Dalton) Kruger, Ryan Gross, Eric Gross (Nicole Finn); great grand children, Brody, Oliver, Charlotte, Hannah and Hayden.

Jim lived in Chicago, Arkansas, Michigan and finally settling in Bristol, IN. He settled down with his family in a farm house outside of Bristol. Jim was a member of the St. Joseph Valley Tractor Club in Jones, MI.

Jim enjoyed woodworking and made his own tools for his trade. He was a hardworking and quiet man whom never missed a day of work.

Most of all, he loved his family dearly especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the funeral home.

A Funeral Service for Jim will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Vistula Cemetery in Bristol, IN.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Valley Tractor Club.
