ELKHART — James Edward "Jim" Hoke, 81, of Elkhart, passed away at 11:46 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Jim was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Goshen to Lawrence R. and Cora (Pearson) Hoke.
He married Julie Y. Moseman, Nov. 1, 1952, in Topeka. She passed away April 28, 1998, in Elkhart.
Jim married Sharon K. Upton March 12, 2001, in Elkhart.
Surviving are his wife Sharon of Elkhart; three daughters, Pamela Parker of Moline, Ill., Patty (Rodney) Frick of Osceola and Peggy Harman of Elkhart; a stepdaughter Sherry (Kevin) Finn of Goshen and his sister, Mary Andrews of Fla.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive as well.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, LeRoy and Howard Hoke and four sisters, Lucille Brubaker, Betty Williams, Gertrude Loomis and Frances Zimmerman.
Jim worked as a route driver for Wray's Ice Cream for many years and retired from Elkhart Container (Welch Packaging) in 2003.
He enjoyed fishing and square dancing and was an avid NASCAR fan, with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, he will be greatly missed. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
