ELKHART -- James Edwin "Jim" Brubaker, 65, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, (Nov. 4, 2010) at 10:27 pm at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 10, 1945, in Elkhart to Harold "Jim" and Willodean (Barnes) Brubaker. On March 3, 1968, he married Sharon L. Morse, who survives at home.

Also surviving are two sons, Jason R. (Tracy) Brubaker of Normal, Ill., and Arron M. (Marci) Brubaker of Elkhart, two brothers, Jeff Brubaker of Elkhart and Jerry Brubaker of Arizona, and six grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents.

A celebration of Jim's life will take place Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. A funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.

Mr. Brubaker worked at Whitehall Laboratories in Elkhart for 27 years, and 12 years at Crown International, retiring in 2008. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, animal lover, Bob Dylan devotee and radio talk show enthusiast. He had also served in the Indiana National Guard.
