BRISTOL — James A. "Andy" Smith Sr., 50, of Bristol, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital, after a sudden illness.
Andy was born April 16, 1962, in Elkhart to the late James K. and Patricia (Gibson) Smith.
Surviving are his sons James A. Smith Jr. (Traci) of Norman, Okla., John (Autumn) Smith of Noble, Okla., Philip K. Smith of Elkhart and Chadwick Forgey of Bristol; grandchildren Shayle Mikel, Jamie Marie, Justin Bradley, Skyla Dawn, Trinity Cheryl Ray and John Thomas Jr.; fiancée Carla J. Forgey of Bristol; brother Kerry (Julie) Smith of Osceola; and sister Amy Jo SmithClark of Indianapolis. Also surviving is his former wife, Michelle Marie (Tim) of Washington, Okla.
Andy worked for Collins and Co. in Bristol for the past eight years.
He was a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in horticulture management. He loved being outdoors and working in his yard.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 16, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Services celebrating Andy's life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, with visitation one hour prior, also at Billings Funeral Home. Casual attire is requested. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate.
Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
