Jacqueline H. Douwsma (Peters), 82, of Elkhart, passed away at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.

Jacqueline was born in, Spartan, Michigan, Aug. 4, 1935, to the late Christopher and Evelyn (Dockeray) Peters.

Celebrating 60 years together, Jackie married William Douwsma on July 11, 1957.

She is survived by her two children, son, Dean (Mary Jo) Douwsma and daughter, Dawn (Dana) Wales.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Abbey (Luke) Adkison, Seth (Jillian) Douwsma, Cody Wales and Kailey Wales, along with two-great grandchildren, Jack Douwsma and Emmalyn Adkison.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband, William Douwsma, parents, Christopher and Evelyn Peters, and one brother, Robert Peters.

Jacqueline's life was spent focusing on her family and Christian faith.

Jackie was homemaker for most of her married life.

Some years were spent working at G.L. Perry's and Carson Pierre Scott.

She actively supported her husband and together they were involved with the Dunlap Lions Club and Elkhart Vintage Auto Club (EVAC).

She was a member of the Elkhart Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Jackie enjoyed baking and cooking, flowers, animals, music, entertaining and most importantly time with her family.

A celebration of life will be Sunday, Feb. 18.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. with a service following at 4 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.

Pastor Don Greulich will be officiating.
