ELKHART — Mr. Jack L. Julian, 82, of Elkhart County, was called to his eternal home after an extended illness, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012.
He was born in Vincennes on July 2, 1930, to the late Woodrow Julian and Charlotte (Johnson) Julian Foster.
Also preceding Jack in death was his stepfather Vincent Foster, who raised him from childhood.
He later married Carole Sue Miller on March 25, 1956, in Vincennes. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Jennifer (Rick) Mayer and Jill (Alan) Esko; sons John (Karen) Julian and Jeff (Ann) Julian; a half-brother, William (Jo Etta) Foster; and grandchildren Brandon, Mallory and Stephanie Julian, Jessica Julian-Weldon and Jack and Nathan Esko.
A celebration of Jack's life will begin with a viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, with visitation one hour prior at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E. Bristol St., Elkhart. In accordance with Jack's wishes, he will be cremated following the services. Pastor Jim Fookes and Marge Braden, spiritual care counselor for Center for Hospice Care, will officiate.
After his graduation from Lincoln High School in Vincennes, Jack served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951 to 1953. In 1954, he began his financial career at Commercial Credit Corporation of Vincennes and ended his career in 1994 with Crittson Financial Corp. of Elkhart.
He was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church and was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. He was also very accomplished at memorizing Bible scripture, having studied at Bible Memory Association International of St. Louis.
He will be best remembered for his love for his God, family and country.
