GRANGER -- Jack Nevil Harris, 65, residing in Granger, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2010, at Hospice House in Elkhart.
He was born Dec. 20, 1944, in Palestine, Ill., to the late Ben and Jewel Eileen (Rusterholz) Harris. On Sept. 24, 1966, in Connersville, he married the former Sally L. Graham.
She survives along with a son, David (Michele) Harris of Evansville, and his daughter, Lynn (Ken) McCreadie of Elmhurst, Ill. Also surviving are five grandchildren and his two sisters, Judy Lee of Largo, Fla., and Becky (John) Kemp of Greenville, S.C.
Jack was a 1963 graduate of Connersville High School and earned his doctorate in bio-chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1976. He was formerly employed with the Bayer Corp. for eight years and retired from Valley Research in South Bend as the director of research in 2007. He was a member and past president of the Enzyme Technology Association and a United States Air Force veteran. He was active with the Mishawaka Pilots Club and also was a volunteer pilot for Angel Flights. Jack enjoyed photography and reading.
Please join with his family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a celebration of his life service will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Bill Sullivan will officiate. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, with burial at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
