ELKHART -- Irene "Margaret" Jackson, 75, of Elkhart, died at 9:06 a.m. Sunday (May 24, 2009) in Elkhart Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Nov. 20, 1933, in Memphis, Tenn., to Irene Bower, and married Sidney Jackson on Feb. 16, 1987, in Elkhart.

He survives along with five sons, Norman Washington of Atlanta, Sidney Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert (Ethel) Jackson and Brian Danner, both of Elkhart, and Terry Jackson of Germany; three daughters, Crystal (Willie) Kellybrew of Elkhart, Lucretia Jackson-Kamm of Virginia and Terry Jackson, serving in Iraq; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two siblings.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by several siblings and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Jackson worked as a housekeeper at Americana Nursing Home (now Woodland Manor Nursing Facility) for many years and was a member of the South Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and playing bingo and the card game Pitty Pat.

No visitation or funeral service is planned. Cremation will take place.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., assisted with arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
