ELKHART — Irene Flynn, 98, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, May 25, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Plymouth, to Aaron and Vera (Vinall) Myers.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Jinx) Flynn of Edwardsburg, Mich.; four grandchildren, Michaele DeSchepper of Elkhart, Kimberly Flynn of Edwardsburg, Tim Flynn and Todd Flynn, both of Elkhart; and a daughter-in-law, Sally Flynn of Elkhart; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy J. Flynn; one brother, Mervin Myers; and two sisters, Mary Pershing and Judy Smith.
Irene was employed with the Excel Corp. for more than 26 years prior her retirement.
She was a lifetime member of the DAV 19 and a former member of the Mishawaka Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1262.
Irene loved to spend time gardening, playing bingo and cooking for her family and friends.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, June 1, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Terry Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery.
