BRISTOL -- Iona V. Kufeldt, 88, of Bristol, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 18, 2008) at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa.

She was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Elkhart to Franklin R. and Euda (Creager) Beck. On Oct. 1, 1950, she married James F. "Jim" Kufeldt in Bristol. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2007.

She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne (Lynn A.) Smeltzer of Nappanee and Euda (Jim) Rader of Elkhart; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Commons and Pauline Beck; and one half-sister, Evelyn Stover.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to Tuesday's 11 a.m. life celebration service at Bristol United Methodist Church, 201 S. Division St., Bristol. The Revs. Fred Stayton and Herb Minnich will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol.

Mrs. Kufeldt was a private duty nurse and also worked as a nurse's aide at various nursing facilities in the area. She attended Bristol United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed being around people, spoiling her grandchildren, gardening and playing games and cards.
