Iona Mary Adams, 92, affectionately known as, "Grandma Sophie" and residing in Elkhart, passed away peacefully on her 92 nd birthday, January 12, 2025, at Providence House in Mishawaka. Iona was born on January 12, 1933, in Elkhart to the late Bert Albert Williams an Ruby Olene (Onkes) Williams.

Iona married the love of her life, Theo R. "Sonny" Adams, on August 13, 1950. Iona and Sonny were married for 23 happy years until he sadly passed on October 21, 1973. Also preceding her in death were her two brothers Bert Williams and Ramon Williams, and her sister Juanita Chandler-Jones.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Ronald) Kratzer, Joni (Robert) Irwin; seven loving grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Kratzer, Matthew (Debbie) Kratzer, Andrew (Lindsey) Kratzer, Ryan (Mae) Kratzer, Eric (Angie) Irwin, Emily Irwin (Brad Sissom), and Robby (Caitlyn) Irwin; sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Iona was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. She was always so incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and bragged about them every chance she got. She provided unwavering love and support for all members of the family, and attended countless sports games, band concerts, and extra curriculars over the years. She made holidays extra special for everyone and has left her family with an abundance of happy memories. Although it was later in life, Iona accepted Jesus into her heart at age 90 and her family takes comfort in knowing she will be welcomed by the Lord in her passing.

Friends may gather at Billings Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 to go in procession for the 2:00 p.m. graveside service at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, Pastor Matt Faulkner of First Baptist Church will officiate.
