IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Infant Lucian
Conan Johnson
August 13, 2024 – October 13, 2024
Sweet, tiny infant Lucian Conan Johnson, exactly 2 months old, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully with his mommy and daddy at his side following an unexpected trip to the emergency room on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 4:47 am. It is believed that tiny Lucian had an unseen congenital anomaly that triggered his passing. He was born in South Bend on August 13, 2024 and was the son of Mika Marie Wakeman and Austin Michael Johnson, both of Elkhart.
Along with his parents, tiny Lucian is survived by his sister Braelyn N. Lopez of Coldwater, Michigan; grandmas Carrie (James) Hansford of South Bend and Angel Johnson of Indianapolis; grandpa Simmon Johnson of Arkansas; great-grandma Linda Burns of Alexandria; aunts and uncles Brian Strycker of Mishawaka, April (Curtis) Little of Ligonier, Tearsa Hansford of South Bend, Carissa (Blaine) Dodson of Coldwater, Michigan and Savannah Fager of Elkhart. He also had a nearly endless host of loving and adoring extended family, good friends and thoughtful neighbors, as well as a room full of colorful plushie toys who are too upset to comment. Speaking of family, Lucian's mommy and daddy express their heartfelt thanks to all of the emergency medical professionals and staff at Elkhart General Hospital who worked tirelessly on tiny Lucian in their effort to save him. While Austin and Mika were unable to take their sweet Lucian home, they have been taking solace in the thought that their little hero was able to make an amazing anatomical donation that saved some other lives that fateful day.
Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting Lucian's family with service arrangements. In accordance with his parents' wishes, cremation will take place so Lucian can then be taken back home where he belongs! A memorial service may take place at a later date.
Although Lucian spent only a couple of precious months in the lives of his family, he made a lasting impression on everyone for his beautiful smile and his bubbly, happy personality. He loved stuffed animals of all types and enjoyed being loved on by all of the visiting relatives and friends. Lucian's day usually consisted of plenty of good-morning kisses and hugs from mommy followed by a couple of laps around his crib for his daily workout. Afternoons were generally booked solid with meaningful conversations with his stuffed animals, wonderfully enveloping naps and being the center of everyone's attention. He also got totally excited about the color blue and taking naps on his daddy's big, soft tummy.
All in all, Lucian was the sunshine in everyone's life, and he did his best to keep up that reputation. Full of love, wonder, amazement, curiosity and surprise, it was a joy just to watch him interact with the world around him. Lucian simply loved just about everyone and everything. Many will doubtlessly lament that the world has lost a beautiful soul. We prefer to think that Heaven has gained one!
Memorial donations may be given in behalf of tiny Lucian's memory to either of his parents.
