BRISTOL — Inez R. Weldy, 87, of Bristol, passed on to her heavenly home at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, while surrounded by her beloved family at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis K. "Denny" and Joan E. Weldy of Bristol. She had been battling ill health for the past eight months.
She was born in Lagrange County on Aug. 18, 1924, to the late Pete and Ada (Yoder) Wingard, and married Dewey A. Weldy in 1945 in Topeka. He preceded her in death, as did her brothers, Cletus and Harley Wingard; her sisters, Almeda Wingard and Gladys Hochstetler; and a granddaughter, Heather Ann Weldy.
Besides her son, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy J. Weldy of Elkhart; grandchildren Marcus Weldy and Sara (Ben) Birkey; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, with the funeral beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. Pastor Karen Bray of Trinity United Methodist Church of Elkhart will officiate.

Inez was a quality control inspector for Conn-Selmer of Elkhart for more than 37 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Elkhart Women of the Moose Lodge 73 and enjoyed gardening and working outdoors in her yard. She was also an avid sports enthusiast who loved the Chicago Cubs.
