Obituary
ELKHART — Inez O. Huster, 97, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Kindred Valley View Nursing Facility in Elkhart with her family at her side at 4:41 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.
She was born, in Elkhart, May 18, 1919, to the late John and Elizabeth (Books) James, and later married Phillip E. Huster Jr. on Nov. 8, 1941. He passed in 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Dwight, Clair and Hubert James.
Surviving is her daughter, Pamela L. (James) Karasek of Dowagiac, Mich.; granddaughters Cathy (Nickolaus Zeiger Jr.) McKenzie of Elkhart and Carin (Kevin) Pittman of Garner, N.C.; great-grandchildren Nickolaus (Samantha Rayl) McKenzie, Kelsey McKenzie and Alison, Ryan and Kristin Pittman; and great-great-granddaughter Aubree McKenzie.
Billings Funeral Home is honored to host the celebration of Inez's life, beginning with a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, followed by a service there at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, with visitation beginning at noon.
Pastor Bob Kulp of Elkhart's Grace Brethren Church will officiate and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
"Inie", as her late husband lovingly called her, was the quintessential family matriarch, lovingly doting over her family and grandchildren.
It was said that her family gave her strength, but what she gave in return will be cherished for generations.
She was a devout member of Grace Brethren Church and enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, watching the cardinals and making quilts for her friends and family.
Memorial donations may be given in Inez's memory to the Grace Brethren Church, 24775 C.R. 20, Elkhart, IN 46517.
