ELKHART -- Imagene Dolores Rembert, 75, of Elkhart, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 12, 2009) in Valley View Healthcare Facility.

She was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Elkhart to Buford Sr. and Elizabeth (Stringer) Hilliard. On Nov. 26, 1950, she married Ananias "Andy" Rembert in Elkhart. He died in June 2007 in Elkhart.

Mrs. Rembert is survived by four daughters, Debra Rembert, Rhonda (David) Freeman and Rita Taylor-Mallard, all of Elkhart, and Anita Rembert of Miller Beach; two brothers, Buford (Mary Ann) Hilliard Jr., of South Bend and Herbert (Loretta) Hilliard of Mansfield, Ohio; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Rembert; and one great-granddaughter, Lilyann Rembert-Wright.

Mrs. Rembert retired in 1997 after 30 years of service as an instrument cleaner at Vincent Bach. She belonged to several area bowling leagues and later enjoyed golfing, visiting casinos, traveling to Reno, Nev., with her late husband and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Friends may call one hour prior to Saturday's 11 a.m. funeral service at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Ave., Elkhart. Pastor McNeil Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetary, Elkhart.
