ELKHART — Howard R. Young, Sr., 82, of Elkhart, passed away at home Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

He was born April 23, 1936, in Elkhart, to the late Melvin and Alethea (Snedaker) Young Haggerty.

He married Shirley Martin in 1966 in Elkhart. She survives at home.

Also surviving are children, Debra Manns, Theresa (Tom) Shriner, Jackie Sims, Stella (Frank) Roberts, Blanche (Jeff) Peerce and Duane and Howard Young Jr.; many grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin.

Services will be at Riverview General Baptist Church, 1201 E. Indiana Ave., Elkhart, at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec 10, with visitation taking place there from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.

Pastor Rick Pirtle will officiate and burial will follow in Union Center Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home.

Howard ran Young's Floor Care for more than 40 years and was an active member of Riverview General Baptist Church.

The church is accepting donations on behalf of the family.
