Henry "Pete" House, Sr., 78, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Pete was born in Lambert, MS on December 12, 1945 to the late Thomas and Nehoma (Jones) House. Pete married the love of his life, Ora Lee (Williams) House on April 1, 1967.

He is preceded in death by parents; daughter, Fayette; son, Greg; grandson, Michael; brothers, Robert, James, Anthony, Clemon, Thomas and twin, Horace House, and sisters, Ruth McKnight, Naomi Warr, Sally Greenwood and Annie Pearl Garner.

Pete is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ora House of Elkhart; children, Henry (Anissa) Jr., Roxanne, Jimmy (Jessica), Titus (Nicole), Gene (Jean), Willie, Brittney, Wesley, Charnelle, Jamelle, Devon, Charnetha; 21 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Henrietta Stewart of Cassopolis, MI; Mary (Jesse) Jackson, Pearlie (Harold) Williams, all of Elkhart and Arlin (Zellie) House of Niles, MI and many close nieces and nephews.

Pete was a Christian and longtime member of Willowdale Church of Christ. Over the years, he worked and retired as a machinist at Plumrose and Gunite Corp. He also held a position at Miller's and after retirement, worked at Walmart as a greeter, where he never met a stranger. Pete enjoyed working outdoors in his garden when he had one or taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and taking long leisurely walks at the Aquatic Center with his nephew, Alford.

In his spare time, Pete could be relied on to fix any problem given to him.

Pete was an incredible husband and a family man whom could be counted on for anything. He always put others before himself. He was cheerful and had a great sense of humor. To know Pete was to be a friend forever. He will be greatly missed by his family who loved, adored him and will miss his infectious laugh.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Willowdale Church of Christ, 1400 Willowdale Ave, Elkhart, IN 46514.

Visitation for Pete will be 1 hour prior to the start of service from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday at the church.
