Obituary

Henrietta McCaul, 94, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Greenleaf Health Campus.

Henrietta was born on July 8, 1929 in North Judson, IN to John and Marie (Zugar) Kozubik.

She married the love of her life, Bruce Edward McCaul on October 24, 1959 in North Judson. He passed away on January 18, 2003 after 44 years of marriage.

Henrietta is preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters and friend, James "Steve" Stitt.

Henrietta is survived by her longtime friends and coworkers, Carole (Rich) Mullins of Mishawaka, Jill Stitt of Elkhart, Linda (Chuck) Vredingburg of Mishawaka,Terrez Bostic of Elkhart; nephews, Gary (Carolyn Norris) Langer of Berwyn, IL, James (Jo) and Paul Kozubik of Knox, IN, John, Ronald, and Thomas Kozubik, and John Oda; and nieces Lisa (Kregg) Sims of Carmel, IN, and Leona Pierce.

Henrietta graduated from North Judson High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Indiana University. She retired after 43 years as a registered medical technologist in the Elkhart General Hospital lab and South Bend Medical Foundation. She was dedicated to her field and a diligent, hard worker.

Henrietta and her husband Bruce were active members of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. She was a long-time volunteer at Susanna's Kitchen for the needy in Elkhart.

In her spare time, Henrietta enjoyed gardening and yard work. Later in life, she would relax in front of tv watching her favorite shows and keeping up with current events and politics.

Henrietta was strong-willed, sociable, and a loyal friend, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A Private Entombment took place at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.

A special thank you goes to Senior One Cares, Harmony Hospice, Home Instead and the staff at Greenleaf Health Campus for their unwavering kindness and support during a difficult time.

Special thanks to Hen's long time neighbors - Paul and Teresa Zinich and their children for all the help they gave Hen and the many great adventures.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Elkhart Community Foundation, Harmony Hospice, and Habitat for Humanity.
