ELKHART -- Helen P. Wilmore, 92, of Elkhart, passed away at 6:49 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 22, 2011) at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1918, in Elkhart County to Leonard C. and Sylvia A. (Eschlemen) Cripe. On Oct. 9, 1937, she married Robert H. Wilmore Sr. He passed away on Oct. 15, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Robert H. (Brookie) Wilmore Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Wilmore, all of Elkhart; daughter RaNay Wilmore of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Dan Cripe; and a sister, Rosemary Cameron.
Helen was a loving homemaker who enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, cooking, baking and playing and teaching piano. She was instrumental in helping to donate 1,900 Bibles to various missions.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, also at Billings Funeral Home. Michael Quirey, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Olive Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Grace Baptist Church, 53980 C.R. 17, Bristol, IN 46507.
