Obituary
Helen E. Routson, 94, of Elkhart, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, March 2, while in her residence.
She was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Elkhart, to Merl and Emma (Burgh) Eckert.
On Feb. 17, 1940, she married her husband of 56 years, the late Robert R. Routson. He died Nov. 20, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bob" (Linda) Routson of Edwardsburg, Mich., and William "Bill" (Donna) Routson of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Leabelle Harris, Martha Loncer, Josephine Wolfe and Doris Willey, and one brother, Merl "Bud" Eckert.
Helen was employed at CTS for more than 27 years prior to her retirement.
She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former charter member of Northside Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Calvary Baptist Church, 27664 C.R. 24, Elkhart. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral. The Rev. Ralph VanderWerf will officiate. Interment will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Helen to the Center for Hospice Care or Calvary Baptist Church.
