ELKHART — Helen B. Ferro, 92, of Elkhart, passed away from natural causes at her home Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018.

She was born, in Elkhart, July 1, 1925, to the late Anthony and Lenora (Ronzone) Patanelli, and later married Joseph A. Ferro in Elkhart in 1949. He passed away in 2013.

Surviving are her daughters, Debra (Jeff) McShane-Spicer and Kristin (Chad) Sears; son Jeffrey (Flor) Ferro; sister Dolores Patanelli and grandchildren Nicholas Ferro, Connor, Collin and Kelsey McShane and Olivia and Mitchell Sears.

Preceding her in death were her siblings Louis, Mary, Sara, Matthew, Joan, Joseph and Michael.

A celebration of Helen's life will take place at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, with a viewing there beginning at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Jason Freiburger of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church of Elkhart will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Vincent's Cemetery of Elkhart.

Helen was the office manager at CTS for more than 30 years.

She also served as a nurse's aide at Elkhart General Hospital during World War II.

She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed making things for her family.

She was a caring and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family very much and could always be counted on when someone needed help.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
