Harry D. Denton, 84, formerly of Monon, IN, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Harry was born on December 3, 1938 in Lee, IN to the late Lester and Dorothy (Cochran) Denton. He was married to the love of his life, Irene (Estrada) Denton on May 10, 1958 in Laredo, TX. She passed away on June 18, 2018.

Harry was preceded in death by his stepmother,Vivian (VanDervort) Denton; Siblings, Robert Denton, Joyce Gallier, Barbara Boyd, Helen VanDervort and Mary Sue Williams and great granddaughter, Kamilla.

Harry is survived by his children, Deanna (Ron) Kelly of Caldwell, TX and Randy (Deborah) Denton Sr. of Elkhart; grandchildren, Tracy (Andy), Randy Jr., (Heather), Andrea (Bart), Ashley (Mike), Jennifer (Jesus), Kristofer (Dominique), Kayla (Jeremy), Darci (Brian), Juston (Adriana); great grandchildren, Alexis, Courtney, Bryce, Karyme, Hailey, Audrie, Nila, Danielyn, Chelsea, Rhyan, Sawyer, Hector, Amelia and Zoe; and daughter-in-law, Norma Salinas and sister in-law, Carol Denton.

Harry honorably served his country as a jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He was a supervisor at Monon Trailers and retired from the U.S.D.A. in Texas.

Harry was a "jack of all trades" and enjoyed tinkering in his beloved garage listening to his radio. He also constructed homes from the ground up with his son, Randy and son in law, Ron. He was also very proud of his 1954 Bantam tractor. In his spare time, Harry watched NASCAR races and also played poker with his friends.

Although Harry was known to have a stubborn streak, he was a happy, loving, generous person. He was a family man. His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him.

A Funeral Service with full military honors will be at 5:00pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 3:00pm to 5:00pm prior to the start of service.

Burial will be at a later date at Osborne Cemetery in Jasper County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
