BRISTOL — Gregory Michael "Greg" Franks, 49, of Bristol, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born in Elkhart on May 28, 1964, to the late William E. Franks and Jeanne (Huster) Franks Young. They survive in Elkhart.
Also surviving are his daughters, Jennifer (David) Lott and Kelsey Franks, both of Middlebury; his son, Daniel (Amber Molina) Franks of Griffith; brother Steve (Linda) Franks of Goshen; stepsiblings Kevin (Wendy) and James (Karolyn Smith) Young and Cindy (Marty) Smith; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Greg in death were his stepfather, Dr. James Young, brother Timothy Franks and nephew Justin Christman.
A celebration of Greg's life will be Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Billings Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 3 p.m. followed by funeral services beginning at 7 p.m. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation will then take place.
Greg was a production worker in the RV industry most of his adult life. He was a devout Chicago Bears fan and University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan, and had the "dream" job of being a Notre Dame Stadium usher for the last 15 years, where he stood guard outside of the Irish locker room near the entrance to the tunnel. He was also an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and loved landscaping and gardening.
