ELKHART: Gregory Francis "Greg" Scalise, 53, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his residence.  Greg was born on October 7, 1966 in Erie Pennsylvania to Larry and Julie (Kuhner) Scalise. Greg is survived by his parents Larry and Julie Scalise, two brothers Daniel (Kathy) Scalise, Christopher Scalise and a sister Anne (Brett) Wolfe; he will be greatly missed by his 4 nephews, Joey and Drew Wolfe, Jack and Brady Scalise and niece Olivia Voros. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rose and Natale Scalise and Christine and Rudy Kuhner.

Greg lived in Georgia for most of his adult life, until moving back to this area a few years ago. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was a huge Bulldog fan, "Go Dawgs". Greg loved to cook, listen to music, especially the Rolling Stones and REM. He also enjoyed flowers and plants of all types and was an avid animal lover, having had numerous dogs over the years. A voracious reader, Greg's favorite book of all time was To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, August 23, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 2:45pm.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm Monday, August 24, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St. Elkhart where friends may visit with the family for 1 hour prior to the mass.  Reverend Jason Freiburger will officiate. Burial of his cremated remains will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. The family kindly request memorial gifts in Greg's name be mailed to Kid Care International, 55919 Riverdale Dr., Elkhart, IN 46514 or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School, 1331 N. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

Face coverings and social distancing will be encouraged at the funeral home and church.
