IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory L.
Elbert
January 15, 1966 – June 9, 2020
Mr. Gregory Louis "Greg" Elbert, 54, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 12:24 pm. He had been in ill health. He was born in South Bend on January 15, 1966 and was the son of Robert Elbert of Osceola and Vivian Rood of Elkhart. On September 30, 1989, he married Rhonda K. (Christlieb). She passed away on February 6, 2012.
Surviving are his children Jason (Alicia) and Sara Elbert, both of Elkhart; brother Robert (Carol) Elbert of South Bend; sisters Janice (Marshall) Hamm of South Bend and Linda Horvath of Elkhart and his sweet little granddaughter Hayden Elbert, plus another who's on the way!! His beloved wide Rhonda and sister Bettie Sutley precede Greg in death.
In accordance with Greg's wishes, there will be no formal services and Billings Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation services.
Greg worked many years in the local RV industry but had slowed down a bit in the recent past due to his health. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and had amassed a collection of several thousand cards at the time of his passing. Other guilty indulgences included being a classic car enthusiast, especially '57 Bel-Aires, and a hard-core sports fanatic, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Flyers and the Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide) being among his favorite teams. When he was younger, he enjoyed league bowling alongside his wife, Rhonda, and sat on the Heart City board of the US Bowling Congress.
Family and friends are encouraged to browse the funeral home's website, where one can share the obituary, leave condolences for the family, order flowers, get directions and more.
