Gregory A. "Cowboy" Templeton, 69, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Easton, PA to the late Preston Templeton and Madeline (McElroy) Leers on September 27, 1951.
Cowboy is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie; daughters, Crystal (Chris) Longbrake and Holly (Juan) Riviera; step daughter, Kim (Gary) Viers, Renee (Keith) Prince, and Debbie Akey; brothers, Preston Templeton Jr. and James Edward Leers; sisters, Alysjane (Tuff) Kidder, Viola (Herve) Bergeron, Paula (Bob) Rink, and Darlene Trapp; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Sean Templeton; brother, William "Billy" Leers; and faithful friend, Brutus.
A visitation will take place from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St in Elkhart with a service to follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Sarber to officiate. Cremation will take place after services. Please follow proper social distancing procedures and wear a mask. Memorial donations may be given to Rosalie Templeton directly.
Cowboy served proudly in the United States Marines and worked for Charles E. Sapen Paint Co. for years. He was a member of the VFW Post 88 and created Cowboy Karaoke. He loved to sing, enjoyed shooting pool, playing darts, taking Tennessee trips, and dancing with his wife. He enjoyed family get togethers with friends, especially when Rosalie's famous spaghetti and meatballs were served. Cowboy always had a smile on his face, and he will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
