ELKHART — Grace Edith Weaver, 84, of Elkhart, passed away following an extended illness Thursday, Aug. 20, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 22, 1931, in New Paris to the late Paul L. and Ruth (Stump) Carroll.
She married Gerald A. Weaver on Aug. 5, 1951, in Nappanee. He survives at home.
Also surviving are her daughters, Deborah (John L.) Ellis of Goshen and Patricia (Phillip) Smith of Elkhart; her son, Lawrence Weaver of New Paris; brothers Elwood, Edward and Marlin Carroll, all of Elkhart; sisters Lillian (Ray) Mast of New Paris, Pauline Hollamby of Middlebury, Audrey Carroll of Goshen and Rose Valvivia of Michigan; grandchildren Tammy (Jack) Medford, JoAnne Johnson, Eli (Gia) Winehart, Sarah Niswonger and Anna (Anthony) Tucker; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Paul Carroll, and another brother, Paul Carroll Jr.
A celebration of Grace's life will be Monday, Aug. 24, at Billings Funeral Home, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the 7 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Don Mishler will officiate, and burial will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Faith Mausoleum in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
Grace was a homemaker who loved to spend her time gardening flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed doing arts and craft projects in her earlier years, but was best known for her baking. She also cherished he time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.
