CASSOPOLIS, Mich. -- Gordon R. Nelson, 73, of Cassopolis, passed away at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 4, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Eric R. and Eva (Benson) Nelson. He married Janet Henry on June 18, 1966, in Jacksonville, Ill. She survives at home.

Surviving are a brother, Ronald (Penny) Nelson of Cat Spring, Texas; and a sister, Judith Warne of Ann Arbor.

Mr. Nelson is to be cremated in accordance with his wishes. No formal services have been scheduled. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart, Ind., is handling arrangements.

He was vice president of operations of the Harris, Marcus Co. of Chicago, a furniture and lighting manufacturing company, for many years. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with Janet.

Memorials may be given to the Lions Club or the American Cancer Society.
